Early Years
Foothills, curiosity, and the first sparks
Growing up in Central Virginia, curiosity became the common thread: gadgets, images, sound, and whatever new tool promised another way to make something interesting.
a life of obsessions
Autobiographical Portfolio
My latest obsession is coding audio-reactive psychedelic animations for live music. Past and ongoing are photography, music, video, computers, and the strange little sparks that happen where art and technology collide.
Brief Bio
I was born and raised in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, then moved to Virginia Beach in 1994. Along the way, computers, cameras, music, moving images, websites, and visual effects have all taken turns becoming the thing I couldn't stop thinking about.
This page is a simple timeline of those obsessions: where they started, how they changed, and how they eventually began folding into one another.
Timeline
Early Years
Growing up in Central Virginia, curiosity became the common thread: gadgets, images, sound, and whatever new tool promised another way to make something interesting.
Computers
Computers moved from novelty to workspace: part notebook, part darkroom, part editing suite, part laboratory.
Photography
Photography became a way of collecting scenes, moods, faces, and odd little visual moments that might otherwise disappear.
Music & Video
Music and video opened the door to rhythm, pacing, performance, and the emotional punch of visuals moving with sound.
Web
Web design became the practical layer: publishing, experimenting, building, rebuilding, and occasionally getting bored enough to try a different CMS.
Now
The current rabbit hole: GLSL shaders, live music visuals, procedural graphics, FFT audio response, feedback, raymarching, and realtime psychedelic systems.
Portfolio Threads
Realtime GLSL visuals for music, performance, ambience, and live experimentation.
People, places, texture, odd details, and the occasional image that refuses to explain itself.
Small sites, visual systems, interface experiments, and tools for creative publishing.
